Dear Parents, January 2012

Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a wonderful winter holiday. I’m excited to start another wonderful year in English. For the month of January we will be learning the following:

Group 1-2: Clothing, Rooms in Our House, Over/Under/On
Group 3: Clothing, Rooms in Our House, Our Neighborhood, Over/Under/On
Group 4: Rooms in Our House, Our Neighborhood, Actions at Home, Shapes, Over/Under/On, Letters R, S and T.
Group 7: “Back Pack Unit 3: At the World’s Table,” ordering food from around the world, reading and creating menus, the food pyramid, using any/some/would like.
Group 8: “Back Pack Unit 4: I’ll Take It!,” comparative and superlative forms, sufficiency (too/enough), shopping, buying, selling, products, advertising, shopping terms, descriptive adjectives.

• Please remember that all songs lyrics for groups 1-4 can be found above my desk in the group 1-2 hallway.
• The group 1-2 “Book of the Week” is posted by my locker in the 1-2 hallway.
• Group 7 and group 8 homework and important information is posted in the 1-2 hallway.
• In the same area you will find samples of what the group 4 students have done in class as well as the letters they have learned.
• You can find samples of group 7 and group 8’s work by their classrooms.
• All important vocabulary words for groups 1-4 can be found on my locker and most of the vocabulary for groups 7 and 8 is on the unit overview sheets hung up in the 1-2 hallway.
